The three have released the single under the name ‘The Gibson Band’, which will feature a rotating cast of musicians that will steadily release music to fund various philanthropic causes around the world.In the case of ‘Deconstruction’, all proceeds will be going to Armenia Fund’s Artsakh Refugee Initiative.

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White is reportedly being eyed to portray Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming film about the making of the singer’s 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.According to Deadline Hollywood, White is the favourite to play a young Springsteen in the film – reportedly titled Deliver Me From Nowhere – which was announced this January. Deadline notes that an negotiations with White have not begun, and that popular film house A24 is in talks to board the project.Scott Cooper – who directed the Jeff Bridges-led Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Antlers and more – is slated to direct the upcoming film.

Mark Knopfler‘s Guitar Heroes have shared the official video for the new version of ‘Going Home’, which reveals a “who’s who” of guest collaborators on the track.The star-studded re-recording of Knopfler’s 1983 solo single was released last Friday (March 15), with all funds raised being donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.Clocking in at almost 10 minutes, the new take on the Local Hero theme song sees the Dire Straits frontman join forces with rock icons including the likes of Queen‘s Brian May, Bruce Springsteen, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.Additionally, the Guitar Heroes’ take on ‘Going Home’ includes the last ever recording by the late Jeff Beck – which he laid down for the single shortly before his death in January 2023.Knopfler also enlisted The Beatles‘ Ringo Starr on drums, Sting on bass and The Who frontman (and Teenage Cancer Trust patron) Roger Daltrey on harmonica.Arriving today (March 22), the music video for ‘Going Home’ reveals who plays which parts on the collaborative charity single.

Black Sabbath performed their first gig has secured listed status, following fears it may be knocked down.The Crown venue, also regarded by some as the “birthplace of heavy metal” was one of the buildings at risk on Station Street. It is based on the same street as the Electric – the UK’s oldest working cinema which was shut down last week.Now, it has been listed as Grade II by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on the advice of Historic England, helping to secure its future on the street.The iconic space has been empty for 10 years now, and initially, Birmingham Open Media had planned to buy and restore the pub.

Jimmy Page, Brian May and Tony Iommi came together to launch the new Gibson Garage in London.The moment took place in Soho yesterday morning (February 22) as the guitar manufacturer held a special preview of the shop, which is set to open on Saturday (February 24).It is inspired by the Nashville flagship branch and has over 300 guitars for sale, as well as a live music space downstairs and a made-to-measure counter for ordering bespoke, custom guitars.At the first preview of the store, Led Zeppelin icon Jimmy Page was in attendance to reveal a new collaboration with the brand – launching a replica of his iconic 1971 Doubleneck.As well as Page, Brian May of Queen and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath were in also attendance, and joined the Led Zeppelin guitarist in cutting the opening ribbon.

Tony Iommi has provided details for the box set of the albums Black Sabbath recorded with vocalist Tony Martin.In his 2024 New Year’s message – a yearly tradition the Black Sabbath guitarist has maintained since 2022 – Iommi addressed the box set of the Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath albums which was slated for release last year.“Last year, when I did my message, I did say we’d have a box set coming out,” said Iommi after warm holiday greetings to fans. “Well, now, I’m being informed that it will be out in May.

Queen‘s Brian May has joined Black Sabbath‘s Tony Iommi for a performance of ‘Paranoid’.The guitarists reunited to discuss the Black Sabbath classic for a segment in the new guitar-themed Sky Arts documentary, Greatest Guitar Riffs. “I’m sitting down with my mate, Brian, to talk riffs,” narrated Iommi at the head of the clip.

Sky Arts have revealed the UK’s favourite guitar riff in a brand new three part documentary series, titled, Greatest Guitar Riffs, which aired on November 24.A poll of 2000 music fans votes was carried out to find out the nation’s favourite riff, and included in the top 40 were Sam Fender’s ‘Seventeen Going Under’, Arctic Moneys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know’ and Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’.But the top choice was revealed as ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ by Guns N’ Roses. The track, which was released in June 1988, quickly topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the rock band’s only US Number One single.It came in at number 88th on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time list in 2021, and is clearly still a favourite of the UK public.‘Purple Rain’ by Prince was the runner-up, with ‘Sultans Of Swing’ by British rock band, Dire Straits, coming in at third place.Director of Sky Arts, Phil Edgar-Jones, spoke on the series saying: “Whether its’ the late, great Jimi Hendrix, the stalwarts such as Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin, or the new artists coming through, rock n’roll will never die.”“There’s new talent coming through constantly.

Ozzy Osbourne labelled him as a “fucking arsehole” for not reaching out following his struggles with Parkinson’s disease.The dispute between the two arose following comments the Black Sabbath frontman made in an interview with Rolling Stone, in which he reflected upon his recent medical worries and the support he has received from those around him.In the interview, Osbourne recalled how his bandmate Tony Iommi had supported him constantly throughout the health issues, although the same could not be said about fellow Black Sabbath member Geezer Butler.“You do find out who’s a genuine friend when you’ve been through what I’ve had,” Ozzy began told the outlet. “Tony Iommi has been so supportive of me since my illness.

Tony Iommi made a surprise appearance at the premiere of the new Black Sabbath ballet in Birmingham.The ballet, announced earlier this year, opened at the Birmingham Hippodrome last Saturday (September 23) and will run until this weekend (September 30), before moving on to Plymouth’s Theatre Royal and Sadler’s Wells in London. Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has recalled the time that his bandmate Tony Iommi was nearly “sacrificed” onstage by a “lunatic”.Speaking to Reader’s Digest, Butler reflected on growing up in a strict Catholic home, the band’s “satanic” imagery and how that resulted in several weird experiences for the metal pioneers.“My dad wasn’t very pleased when he saw the inverted cross on the sleeve of our first album. But, generally, nobody in the UK or Europe cared that much about our Satanic imagery,” Butler shared.He went on to explain: “In the US, though, people would threaten us and turn up at our gigs with crosses and bibles. In Nashville, someone jumped on stage and went for Tony with a knife.

A note that said "Ozzy Zig needs a gig" left in a music shop led to the forming of Black Sabbath, according to its members.  Founding member Geezer Butler told the Wall Street Journal that he saw Ozzy Osbourne’s note while in a Birmingham shop when he was actively looking for a singer after his band Rare Breed broke up. "I left word at his house," Butler said.

Tony Iommi has given his verdict on the forthcoming Black Sabbath ballet after going to see the rehearsals.Iommi has had a hand in the creation of the ballet, working with Birmingham Royal Ballet director Carlos Acosta. The show will include eight of the band’s tracks plus new music inspired by them, all performed live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.Having watched the rehearsals, the guitarist in the pioneering heavy metal band told Channel 4 News he “loved” the production.

Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler has set a release date for his upcoming memoir, Into The Void: From Birth To Black Sabbath. The memoir will trace the founding Black Sabbath bassist’s personal and professional life. The latter topic will include a recount of Black Sabbath’s multiple line-up changes and internal struggles, as well as the band’s “beginnings as a scrappy blues quartet”, according to the book’s synopsis.The book will be released this year on June 6 2023, something Butler described on Instagram as “6/6/6” as “2×3=6”.In the full post, which you can see below, Butler wrote: “After spending my entire life creating memories, to eventually set aside how reserved I am, I have put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).“The recollection of my life (thus far) is coming out 6/6/23.

Ozzy Osbourne has opened up on his fellow rock stars that have reached out to him during his ongoing health issues, noting that while his social circle in the music scene has essentially gotten smaller, he's extremely appreciative of those that have continued to make the effort. In a new interview with Revolver, Ozzy reveals that he now has a great relationship with fellow Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi these days, and that the two still text each other regularly. "Tony, God bless him, he comes to my rescue," he says.
