Juventus and Middlesbrough striker Fabrizio Ravanelli “would have loved” to have joined Tottenham Hotspur, but declined a move as Sir Alan Sugar's phone call was too "late".

However, Ravanelli’s move to the French giants was almost hijacked by Lord Sugar, who tried to coerce him to north London with a last-ditch phone call.“I would have loved to join Tottenham,” Ravanelli said in an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport. “At the time they had Teddy Sheringham, who was a symbol of the club, and Sol Campbell.“I was in the taxi to go to London airport to sign for Marseille, and then Sugar called me asking me to join Tottenham.
