Shaun Wane hails Alex Walmsley form but says more to come from St Helens front rower

Shaun Wane has told St Helens prop Alex Walmsley he would be in his World Cup team if it was named today - but that he can still improve.

The Saints front rower has been in barnstorming form since the Super League restart as the champions have racked up three impressive wins, conceding just one try in the process.

Walmsley - who started on the bench in the 2017 World Cup final - has produced a series of towering displays, moving him to joint third in the Steve Prescott Man of Steel rankings.

He has done it despite pundits fearing that Super League’s new “six again” rule could lessen the impact of the competition’s biggest players.
