Coronavirus measures aimed at curbing the spread of the Omicron variant have been introduced in England - and there are more to come this week and next.
Boris Johnson has warned that the new coronavirus variant is "spreading much faster" than any previous variant, including Delta, and told a Downing Street press conference on Wednesday night that scientists now believe it has a doubling time of between two and three days.
The highly transmissible strain has been designated a variant of concern, due to a large number of spike protein mutations, as well as mutations in other parts of the viral genome.
