Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

'Devastated' Simon Cowell leads tributes to Il Divo singer Carlos Marín following death at 53

Simon Cowell is among the many stars and fans to have paid tribute to Il Divo singer Carlos Marin after his death. The group announced the news of their bandmate's passing, aged 53, on Sunday (December 19).

On December 16, Il Divo had posted that Marín was "in the hospital" and that they were "hoping and praying for a speedy recovery".

It is reported that Marín had fallen ill on December 7 and was placed in an induced coma at the Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital.
