Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson have agreed to continue talks following a summit on greater support for businesses to cope with Omicron.It is understood Downing Street said they would talk to the Treasury about giving cash-strapped firms extra funding.
Alarm is growing across the UK over the rapid spread of a variant which it is feared could overwhelm the NHS. The Scottish Government has reintroduced some restrictions for businesses, but Sturgeon wants to go further for pubs, nightclubs, football matches and concerts.
The First Minister said yesterday that devolved administrations could only go so far and demanded UK-wide schemes like furlough be kickstarted.
