A council boss has revealed 'serious concerns' over the NHS crisis - but says calling in the army will not help hospitals. Greater Manchester's hospital beds are now '93 per cent full' on average, Sir Richard Leese told a press conference today.
The huge figure makes the city's health lead 'extremely uncomfortable', he said, adding that any number over 85 per cent is one of 'an awful lot of concern'.
It comes as 'we go into potentially the most difficult part of the year', when it would typically be expected during the January and February of a particularly tough winter for the NHS.
