Scottish Government announces two coronavirus deaths amid 484 new cases

coronavirus in Scotland in the last 24 hours. The  Scottish Government  this afternoon revealed 484 new cases of the virus have been identified overnight, bringing the total cases to 209,552.

The latest figures mean that, since the start of the pandemic, 7,510 people have lost their lives to coronavirus in Scotland.The statistics also reveal a total of 461 people are being treated in hospital, with 40 in ICU.

It comes after the UK's national statistician said he has "no doubt" that there will be a further wave of  Covid-19  infections in the autumn.

Professor Sir Ian Diamond, head of the Office for National Statistics (ONS), also said there is a lot of regional variation in terms of how many people have  antibodies.
