Scots longest Covid intensive care patient finally leaves hospital after almost 200 days

Covid intensive care patient has finally left hospital after a brutal 195 day stay. Neil McLaughlin spent more than six months in hospital and 167 days in intensive care.

The 63-year-old from Chapelhall in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire had no previous health conditions before being struck down by the virus last November.

It started as a slight cough but his condition quickly deteriorated leaving him fighting for his life.Now Staff at Staff University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride waved goodbye to the survivor after almost 200 days.Today hundreds of workers including nurses gathered at a distance in the reception area of the hospital and balconies as the patient was finally allowed home, accompanied by his partner Wendy Busby.Neil said:.
