Scotland to be battered by 'snowiest and coldest conditions' in over a decade

STV’s Sean Batty is expecting parts of the country to be battered by the 'snowiest and coldest' weather since December 2010.Temperatures dipped to as low at -21C and vehicles became stranded on Scotland’s major roads during one of the harshest winter events in living memory.

Several weather warnings are currently in place across Scotland over the next few days as experts anticipate large parts of the country to be blanketed in heavy snowfall.

Areas of higher ground in the north east could see accumulations of around 50cm of the white stuff over a 42-hour period of unrelenting snowfall.The worst of the conditions is expected to land in Scotland.
