East Kilbride and Strathaven won't return to the classroom at the beginning of February. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said current COVID restrictions and the 'Stay at Home' message will be extended until at least the middle of February.She said the "reluctant" decision had been taken to keep schools and nurseries closed until at least mid-February also.There will be a review on February 2.Education Secretary John Swinney had suggested it would be a "tall order" for pupils to return to classrooms on February 1.The majority of pupils are learning remotely from home and only some children of key workers and vulnerable pupils being allowed into school buildings.Today's review comes less than a week after lockdown restrictions were tightened.
