The co-anchors practiced social distancing by sitting several feet apart at their co-anchor desk on the show, and they made the announcement that two of their colleagues, Al Roker and Craig Melvin, would be taking the morning off due to the news of the diagnosis on-set. The identity of the person who has tested positive for COVID-19 was not revealed, but Savannah said that it was a man who worked on the third hour of the show.

The Coronavirus pandemic is quickly sweeping through New York City and the Today show is the latest to be effected. One of the staffers in the third hour of the show has been diagnosed after having “mild symptoms.”

On the Monday broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie told viewers that a staffer who works on the third hour of the morning show has the novel coronavirus, prompting the network to take co-hosts Craig Melvin and Al Roker off air for the time being.
