police chief who admitted he put a plastic bag round the head of a drugs suspect said he did not intend to kill the man, only scare him.Pol Col Thitisan "Joe Ferrari" Utthanaphon testified before the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases in Bangkok on Wednesday during a court trial.The former Muang Nakhon Sawan police chief, who earned his nickname because of his penchant for luxury cars, was one of seven defendants present in court charged in relation to their dealing with suspect Jeerapong Thanapat, 24, and his wife.On Aug 4 last year the defendants interrogated them back at the Bangkok police station, and footage of the interrogation - showing the victim with a plastic bag around his head - was leaked, sparking outrage.
This week, the disgraced ex-police chief said Thanapat was one of many defendants he would interrogate using the plastic bag method, saying that he always took care not to tie the bag too tight.
