Russia have been ordered to buy assault rifles as a training programme formerly used in the Soviet era returns to the curriculum.
According to local reports, a court in St Petersburg, Russia, has demanded to schools in the area have to teach students and teachers “initial military training”, as Putin panics to boost the dramatic loses his army has suffered since stepping foot into Ukraine.
Since the invasion began, Putin has reportedly lost more than 550k troops – with around 400k of those being men suffering injuries so badly that they can no longer return to the front line.READ MORE: China made 'deep mistake' after 'spy balloon shot down over US,' former spy claimsAnd it is now being reported that training will be given to high school students thought to be aged around 14 to 16-years-old.According to Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, the list of items needed includes gun safes, oxygen, models of F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, shooting simulators, assault rifles and magazines for Kalashnikov guns.
A spokesman for the Education Ministry told them: “Models of grenades and machine guns are also needed since in the near future the subject 'initial military training' will be introduced into the program for 10-11th graders.” However one source from a school in the area claimed that the new programme is now being welcomed.
