Rugby star sacked for posting half-time vape in toilet cubicle on Instagram

Rugby star Kevin Proctor has been sacked by NRL side Gold Coast Titans after appearing to vape in a toilet cubicle and posting it to social media during their defeat to Canterbury.

Proctor wasn't playing in the 36-26 loss at the weekend but was a part of the matchday squad. In the now-deleted Instagram story, he can be seen vaping in a seven-second video with the caption "not the half time vape".The Titans placed their former captain under investigation, with all forms of smoking/vaping banned at stadiums nationwide in Australia and NRL players not being allowed to use their phones during games.READ MORE: Rugby player's X-ray shows shattered kneecap in one of 'most brutal injuries ever'Proctor has subsequently been let go by the club.

A statement on their website read: "The Gold Coast Titans have sanctioned Kevin Proctor after being made aware of an incident during yesterday’s round 19 fixture against the Bulldogs."Proctor has also been released from his commitments with the club for the remainder of the year and will not return to train or play with the squad.

His actions were in breach of both NRL and Stadium regulations."Second-row forward Proctor has been with the Titans since 2017 but his contract was due to expire at the end of the current season.
