Police have swarmed the A&E at Royal Liverpool Hospital after they were called to deal with an incident involving a man outside the premises.A large area of the hospital on Prescot Street has now been cordoned off by officers who arrived on the scene just before 10.30pm yesterday.Patients have now been warned to stay inside and, due to the incident outside, all people trying to access A&E are having to be brought in through a different entrance, reports the Liverpool Echo.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said in a statement that they are dealing with a concern for safety.The force said: "We can confirm that officers are at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital tonight, Wednesday 3 November."At around 10.20pm, a concern for the safety.
