Ricky Gervais has promised fans that he is creating a new sitcom - but he’ll only be writing a role for himself that means he can stay fat.The 60-year-old star’s third and final series of After Life landed on Netflix in January and has earned universal praise. Now that he’s finished with the character Tony, Ricky’s plan is to write a brand new comedy series for the streaming giant. But whatever his new comedy series is about, Ricky will ensure that his character doesn’t require him to make any changes to play the role as he’s too lazy to lose weight or alter his appearance.Telling how he wrote his After Life alter ego with several traits that he has in real life, he said: "I wouldn’t lose weight or put on weight for a role."I didn’t change my accent or my hair (for After Life) so I’m not going to change my diet."Also, I either choose clothes that I can keep after or often I’ll say, ‘I might as well wear this.’"I can’t be bothered to get changed."That’s why I don’t go to the gym, I can’t be bothered.

I’ve got a gym at the end of my street, I can walk there and walk back home again."Before he starts work on a new sitcom, The Office creator intends to hit the road in 2022 and perform for his fans live.He added: "I cannot wait to get a new stand-up out there.

I’ve done Super Nature, it’s recorded for Netflix. I recorded it at the London Palladium last November and it’ll go out next Spring."It’ll seem so old to me, but when you’re doing jokes about famine and AIDS and Hitler they’re pretty evergreen."Touring for me is more important to me than the Netflix special now."The news comes after the star recently insisted that he "wants to get cancelled" for his new series Armageddon.Speaking about the show he said: "I'm treating it.
