Richard Osman QUITS Pointless after 13 years as he steps away from show for new career

POINTLESS star Richard Osman has quit the hit daytime quiz show after 13 years, The Sun can reveal. The telly favourite, 51, has decided to walk away from the long-running BBC One series having filmed more than 1,300 episodes andnearly 30 series.

He is doing so to focus on his hugely successful writing career -which has seen him become a best-selling author. Richard has co-hosted the popular show alongside his friend AlexanderArmstrong, having initially stood in for a test run for the BBC.

The Sun understands that Richard - who created the show’s format -will be replaced by a series of rotating guest co-hosts. Filming for the new series starts in May and will be the first timesince the show first aired in 2009 that Richard will not be seen asAlexander’s “Pointless friend” behind his trusty laptop.
