A Place in the Sun must get thousands of hopeful letters from buyers begging producers to help them find their dream home abroad, so rejection letters will be common. But none quite like this one, as this joke application requested the person went to the actual sun – forever.

Posted on Twitter by writer Ciara Knight, the prank rejection letter read: “Unfortunately we cannot progress with your application as the process does not involve going to the actual sun. “The name refers to overseas travel in pursuit of buying a property, typically to a location with good (or better) weather than we have in the UK. “While I appreciate your desire to be ‘launched into the sun to never return’, this is not something we can help with this on this occasion.”It was signed off with the name “John Fakesurname” in case anyone was fooled.

The tweet received 55,000 likes and almost 4,000 retweets. In other A Place in the Sun news, its lead presenter Laura Hamilton recently announced she will be working with Channel 4’s rival broadcaster, ITV, on This Morning.
