Laimer is already on United's summer wishlist ahead of the Premier League strugglers' planned summer overhaul in midfield - Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are all out of contract.German outlet BILD allege Man United are now keeping close tabs on the Austrian international who already has the seal of approval from Rangnick.
Laimer was a signing by the German boss back in 2017 and the Berlin-based newspaper report Rangnick would be an "absolute advocator" of re-capturing him for his current side.Another plus point for United is that Laimer may be available at a cut-price fee.
His current deal at Leipzig expires in 2023 and the Bundesliga giants could flog him on the cheap this summer rather than lose him on a free at the end of next season.
