Naby Keita’s future with Liverpool may be in doubt but the 25-year-old will not be returning to former club RB Leizpig. The Guinea international left the Bundesliga side two years ago to move to Anfield.
But since arriving on Merseyside in a deal worth a whopping £52.75m, Keita has shown glimpses of his best form. The midfielder has struggled to nail down a permanent spot in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
Klopp’s preferred midfield trio has largely consisted of captain Jordan Henderson, defence-minded Fabinho and work-horse Georginio Wijnaldum, who offers a real threat going forward.
Keita, meanwhile, has figured as more of a back-up option, and injuries have slowed his progress too. James Milner, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
