Raymond Blanc's mother has died, the chef has announced. Anne-Marie - who Raymond affectionately referred to as Maman Blanc - was 97.
Raymond cited her among his culinary muses, naming dishes after her and drawing on the inspiration she provided as he built his food empire.
In a heartfelt tweet announcing her death, Raymond credited his mother with providing a "foundation" for his cookery, ethics, and the drive to open legendary restaurant, Le Manoir, as well as chain Le Brasserie Blanc.
