Queen has always been calm and composed during her reign as British Monarch but on one occasion her ‘mask slipped’ according to a biographer.Her Majesty was just about to start her reign as the leader of the Royal Family after the shock news that her father King George VI had passed away.Prince Philip and the Queen were in Kenya when news reached them and put an end to their royal tour 1952.The couple had been staying at the remote Treetops resort in Aberdare National Park, which caused the news of her father’s passing to not reach them for several hours.The Duke of Edinburgh, who sadly passed away in 2021, broke the news to his wife during a walk in the gardens at the nearby Sagana Lodge.The Queen immediately began to return to the UK, where she left a princess and returned as the new monarch.It was on her journey home that the Queen was finally hit with grief for her father on the aeroplane journey back.Nicholas Best, biographer of the Treetops founder Eric Sherbrooke Walker, revealed the moment Her Majesty let out tears over her father’s passing.Speaking to the Guardian, he said: “The mask slipped once they were airborne.
