50 pence piece has sold for a hefty profit on eBay, netting the seller 400 times the face value of the coin. The Kew Gardens 50p is believed to be one of the most sought-after coins in the UK and sold for £200 on eBay after attracting more than 27 bids last week, reports Mirror Online.
The coins were minted to mark the 250th anniversary of Kew Gardens in 2009 and have been named the most valuable 50p by money experts at ChangeChecker.
The coin is stamped with the Kew Gardens Pagoda and only 210,000 were ever minted compared to the standard 5 million. According to The Royal Mint, around one in every 300 households in the UK could own a Kew Gardens 50p.
