A new study reveals nine out of 10 coronavirus patients who are put on ventilators die, raising questions over the effectiveness of the machines.
Approximately 88% of patients with the deadly bug who were put on ventilators in a New York hospital died, according to a new study.
The research analysed data from 5,700 patients hospitalised from March 1 till April 4 in the largest health system in New York.
Out of these, 320 patients were placed on ventilators and nearly nine out of 10 of those died. However, a factor which did make a difference was age.
