Paramedics arrived on the scene at Church Road primary school in Smithills in minutes as a retired nurse and an off-duty midwife used an on-site defibrillator to save the man.
It is understood he was revived successfully and taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital by ambulance. The meeting, on Sunday, had been organised by Smithills councillors Roger Hayes, Gary Veevers and Doug Bagnall to rally support against the building of a new Vantage Academy Trust school on land
