A professor mocked for his views on the coronavirus is having the last laugh after being proved right. Former Liverpool public health director John Ashton, 72, appeared on the BBC's Question Time programme on Thursday March 12, where he slated the government's slow response to the pandemic.

He branded a lack of testing and preparation head of the developing health crisis storm was as 'complacent' and called for social distancing measures.

He was particularly incensed that 3,000 Atletico Madrid fans had recently travelled to Liverpool, while their on ground was shuttered.
