Prisoner sparks outrage for showing off his lavish cell – which has flatscreen TV
dailystar.co.ukprisoner who boasted that his cell resembles a hotel room has sparked fury.The inmate posted a video online showing it kitted out with stylish decor, tech gadgets and even a flatscreen TV.He has an air humidifier, speaker system, landline telephone to receive calls on, and a leather seat next to his bed.He dubbed his lifestyle “HMP livin” and bragged: “When ya prison cell lookin like a hotel room.”His TikTok post went viral and was viewed more than a million times in just a few days.The unnamed crook racked up 5,500 followers and had 42,000 likes.But his showing-off caused outrage among hard-up taxpayers.Mum-of-three Crystal Jayne said she sleeps on the floor to make space for her children.
She wrote: “Think I might break the law for a comfy bed and peace.”Charlotte Holland said: “Can’t believe I pay tax on this.”And Rebecca Peach added: “That’s so sad because my brother lived like this in supported living.
And he died alone and no-one noticed.”The con – who calls himself “HMP Unknown” – is four years into a seven-year stretch.He also boasted about his “night in by the fire” with a video of logs burning on his hi-tech telly.In another video, he shares images of prisoners wearing expensive designer clothes.
Their faces are covered by emojis.The Prison Service was approached for comment. This follows news that super-sized rats are running amok inside a UK prison.
