Poundland's festive till alerts haven't received a warm welcome from all shoppers, with some fed-up customers dubbing them "humilating." The national chain has added a jovial twist to its self-serve tills this Christmas - with the automated voice replaced by Father Christmas.
One shopper who had their card declined was mortified after the till announced it was rejected before singing. A video of the new festive addition to the tills has gone viral - with some viewers criticising the alert.
In it, Father Christmas can be heard warning: "Card not accepted, is it on the naughty list?" "Because I'm checking it twice, I'm going to find out whose naughty or nice," before singing: "Santa Claus is coming to town." On Twitter, one woman complained:
