Porn star quits industry after 1,000 movies and becomes religious pastor instead

Wolf and the Shepherd Podcast, Joshua explained: “I moved out to holiday, and somehow I found myself in the adult film industry, in the porn industry. “And I was in that industry for six years, I did over 1,000 movies, and I was nominated for best male performer three times, and I won it once…"That took up most of my 20s; I started in the industry when I was around 22 and I left the industry at 29.”Entering adulthood, Joshua lived in West Hollywood as an aspiring actor and juggled a second job at a restaurant to sustain his career search.One night, he served a group of women who recommended that he consider a career acting in porn, which they promised could help him achieve his goals in mainstream acting.“I thought it was going to be super sketchy… but instead I walk into this business complex adjacent to Universal Studios,” he said.And, going through the interview process, Joshua clearly impressed with his acting experience, and quickly started his career in porn.“I heard a counterfeit version of my dream, a counterfeit version of what I was pursuing, and I didn’t have a lot of belief in myself, and I thought maybe this is as good as it was going to get,” he reflected.“So I did that one film, and that one film turned into one thousand.”But, after winning the illustrious title of male performer of the year, Joshua realised he wasn’t taking any satisfaction from his work, and decided to retire from the industry, instead working in a gym.“I would have night terrors almost every night, and it would be me just interacting in a normal day, but all of a sudden I would be nude, and people would be pointing to me saying, ‘you’re that guy’,” he explained.“It was this fear that I lived with, that I just wanted to be a normal.
