horror smash reportedly involving a number of vehicles. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A74M/M74, near Moffat, at around 4.20pm on Wednesday.

Both carriageways between Junction 14 and 15 have been blocked by stricken vehicles with motorists being urged to find an alternative route.

It is not known whether anyone has been seriously injured however reports suggest at least one person is trapped within a vehicle.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they have one appliance in attendance but said it was a police matter.Traffic Scotland tweeted: “UPDATE 18:00.
