Piers Morgan has been 'shot down' after suggesting that he could be the ideal replacement for Jon Snow at Channel 4. The 56-year-old former Good Morning Britain presenter had joked with the broadcaster that maybe he should get himself ready for a return to TV but one of the replies was probably not what he was expecting.
Earlier on Thursday, Jon had announced that he would be stepping down from his role with Channel 4. The 73-year-old is the station's longest-running presenter and has been hosting Channel 4 News since 1989.
Jon will leave the flagship news show at the end of the year and Piers was quick to declare his interest in replacing him, with a cheeky tweet.
