From next season, the Cheshire town of Macclesfield will have a football club to call its own again. Macclesfield FC, formed out of the rubble left behind by Macclesfield Town, will be playing in the North West Counties Premier Division - the fifth tier of non-league football - after getting the green light from the FA.
Ex-player Danny Whitaker will be in charge, whilst former Wales international and Mirror Sport columnist Robbie Savage is on board as Head of Football.
The original club were wound up last September - just a month after a controversial relegation from the EFL following numerous points deductions and financial issues.
