Cardiff hero Peter Whittingham is in hospital battling for his life at the age of 35 following an accidental fall at a pub in Wales.
Contrary to rumours which spread on social media on Tuesday night, the former Bluebirds midfielder is alive as confirmed in a statement released by South Wales Police.
It is believed Whittingham suffered head injuries in the fall and is now fighting for his life in intensive care. On Wednesday, South Wales Police released a statement revealing what happened after social media users and even former Cardiff player Michael Chopra speculated on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
