Former Cardiff City player Jay Bothroyd has led calls for the club to retire the No.7 shirt following the devastating news of the death of Peter Whittingham.
Whittingham, who spent 11 seasons with the Bluebirds and made 457 appearances, tragically passed away on Wednesday after South Wales Police confirmed he suffered head injuries as the result of an accidental fall at a pub in Barry.
Bothroyd played alongside Whittingham during his time at Cardiff, and took to social media to pay his respects to his former teammate. "Whitts No 7 shirt should be retired," he wrote on Twitter. "Special player, great person.
