Warner Bros Discovery now expects to incur total pre-tax restructuring charges of $4.1 – $5.3 billion, which includes $2.8 – $3.5 billion of content impairment and development write-offs as it takes a hatchet to its programming. That’s well above the merged company’s initial announcement of charges for $3.2 – $4.3 billion related to its restructuring and transformation initiatives, which included $2 – $2.5 billion on th content side.

Fox Entertainment has closed a deal with Modern Magic to develop animated programming for the network. Modern Magic was recently launched by Academy Award winning filmmaker Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and producing partner, Adam Rosenberg. Under the deal, Modern Magic will develop and produce a “new wave” of half-hour and hour-long animated series for Fox. Content created will be fully own and distributed by Fox Entertainment and produced by Bento Box.

Jason Momoa and John Cena have both been cast as the leads in the upcoming film Killer Vacation.The 43-year-old Aquaman star and the 45-year-old Suicide Squad member are likely to put their musclebound physiques and comedic chops to good use in the film, which is described as an action comedy by Variety.Although the title might suggest a trip gone horribly awry, almost no details about the project have been released by Warner Bros., which is producing.The film will be the latest in a recent string of collaborations between the two DC stars.  Star power: Jason Momoa, 43, and John Cena, 45, have both been cast as the leads in the upcoming film Killer Vacation. Comedy series Minx has been canceled by HBO Max despite already being renewed for season 2 back in May.The show - which centers around a publication of an erotic magazine aimed at women -  was preparing to wrap production on the second season when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to scrap it according to sources for Variety on Monday.The media conglomerate - which recently axed Wonder Woman 3 - has famously been cutting costs since WarnerMedia and Discovery merged earlier this year and it appears that Minx was the latest example of that.

Unlike others that we have reported on, Lionsgate TV’s Minx and Love Life and Sony TV’s Gordita Chronicles, Westworld and The Nevers are high-end Warner Bros. Discovery productions for HBO proper, and I hear they are likely to resurface on other company platforms. WBD CEO David Zaslav has spoken about entering the thriving FAST channel space, so Westworld and The Nevers would likely be offered in that form, I hear.
