Kate Bush has shared an emotional tribute to her former bassist John Giblin, who has died at the age of 71.The musician’s death was confirmed in a Facebook post by the band Osibisa, with whom he had recently collaborated.Giblin passed away last Sunday (May 14) in Cheltenham after “battling illness”, according to the group. The obituary went on to describe him as a “bass guitarist, double bass player, arranger and all-round session musician extraordinaire”.The musician’s longstanding partnership with Bush began when he played bass on the legendary artist’s 1980 singles ‘Babooshka’ and ‘Breathing’, both of which appear on her third album ‘Never For Ever’.Additionally, Giblin and Bush contributed bass and backing vocals, respectively, to Peter Gabriel‘s song ‘No Self Control’ that same year.Giblin would go on to feature on Bush’s records ‘The Sensual World’ (1989), ‘The Red Shoes’ (1993), ‘Aerial’ (2005), ‘Director’s Cut’ (2011) and ’50 Words For Snow’ (2011).He was later chosen by Bush to perform in the band for her long-awaited comeback shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014.

Peter Gabriel has released new single ‘Four Kinds Of Horses’, which features his daughter Melanie on backing vocals alongside Brian Eno on synthesiser – check it out below.Released on Friday (May 5) to coincide with the full moon, the song is the latest track to be shared from Gabriel’s upcoming solo album ‘i/o’ following ‘Panopticom’ and ‘The Court’.Gabriel said that ‘Four Kinds Of Horses’ explores “the interesting overlap of religion and peace on the one hand and violence and terrorism on the other”, and was inspired by the Buddhist parable of the same name, “which describes different ways a student can approach their spiritual practice”.He went on to describe Eno’s synths as “sounding like electric worms”, while Melanie’s vocals provide “another lovely moment for a dad”.Speaking about ‘i/o’, Gabriel said: “Some of what I’m writing about this time is the idea that we seem incredibly capable of destroying the planet that gave us birth and that unless we find ways to reconnect ourselves to nature and to the natural world we are going to lose a lot. A simple way of thinking about where we fit in to all of this is looking up at the sky… and the moon has always drawn me to it.”While the album doesn’t yet have a release date, Gabriel is set to head out on a headline tour of Europe, North America and the UK later this month.The run of shows starts May 18 in Poland before reaching the UK in June – tickets are available here.

Beninese artist and songwriter Angélique Kidjo, Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell have been announced as the recipients of this year’s Polar Music Prize.They will be presented with their prizes and 600,000 Swedish Kroner at a ceremony in Stockholm on 23 May, which will be livestreamed on YouTube if you fancy watching it.Bigging up this year’s winners, the prize’s MD Marie Ledin says: “Angélique Kidjo is an inspirational artist, she constantly explores and challenges and is one of the greatest singer-songwriters in international music. Currently, the petition has more than 10,000 signatures.“Waters’ criticism of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is part of his long-term advocacy on behalf of human rights across the globe,” reads the description alongside the petition.

$300 million (£270m).Wall Street Journal reported that Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks sold the rights to Concord Music Group Inc, including publishing copyrights, recorded music income streets and the original masters. It excludes the work of the previous Genesis member, Peter Gabriel.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Phil Collins and his Genesis bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford have agreed to sell their publishing copyrights and “a mix of recorded music-income streams” to Concord Music Group, the company confirmed to the Wall Street Journal on Thursday. Sources told the publication the deal was for upward of $300 million. The deal includes the solo material of all three, most notably Collins’ multiplatinum solo albums and Rutherford’s band Mike & the Mechanics, which achieved chart success in the 1980s. The catalogs of Peter Gabriel and other former members of Genesis were not included in the deal. A rep for Concord tells Variety an official announcement will be made Friday morning.

Iervolino, whose Iervolino and Lady Bacardi Entertainment (ILBE) company produces feature films including Bobby Moresco’s upcoming “Lamborghini,” is also the founder of innovative digital entertainment platform TaTaTu, a social media platform that uses a form of cryptocurrency called TTU Coins. TaTaTu recently acquired a controlling stake in London’s Mercato Metropolitano from its founder Andrea Rasca who in 2016 established this pioneering community market as a space for social exchange and environmental sustainability. The Mercato is now being used as the location for an upcoming docu-series chronicling the journey of four chefs who sought refuge in the United Kingdom respectively from Syria, Namibia, Nepal, and Uzbekistan.

The Mars Volta have spoke to NME about their new “pop” album  and the rumours of them working with Kanye West.Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López released their new self-titled album as The Mars Volta today (September 16) – a record that draws influence from the likes of Van Morrison, Slade, David Bowie’s later work and Peter Gabriel. “It’s safe to say we’ve made a pop album,” explained Bixler-Zavala.“It’s there in the name, Volta,” he continued.
