Huge blaze at high rise flats near Grenfell Tower as 60 firefighters on the scene
Fire crews are attending a huge blaze at a block of high rise flats on Queensdale Crescent in Shepherds Bush, London.According to the London Fire Brigade, half of a flat on the 12th floor is "alight".Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters are currently attending the scene, the organisation tweeted. They added: "We've taken over thirty 999 calls to the fire in W11."We were able to use '9Eye' which enabled a caller to show our control officers live images of the scene."The emergency services were called at 9.23am, and the cause of the fire is not yet known. The Conservative MP for Kensington, Felicity Buchanan, tweeted: "Very concerning to hear about the high rise fire at Queensdale Crescent in Shepherds Bush."I am told by @LondonFire that 8 fire engines are there, 60 firefighters and a 32mm aerial appliance."A 64mm one has been called."Ariel appliances are used to fight fires in tall blocks of flats when traditional fire fighting equipment is unable to reach it.No injuries have been reported so far, but a BBC Radio London video shows thick black soot covering the window area, and around five or six floor above the flat where the fire started.According to My London, one woman called Joanna took pictures of the fire. She wrote on social media: "In West London and saw this and heard sirens."Getting closer it seems a different building than the [Grenfell] Tower is on fire."No less horrific for those affected and has made me feel physically sick.
