Gael Garcia Bernal has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jack Russell, a monster hunter afflicted with a curse that turns him into a werewolf, in the dread-filled and macabre Halloween special , now streaming on Disney+. “I was immediately on board,” Bernal says of joining the project, which is a major departure in tone, style and storytelling for the MCU. “Seeing that in this Marvel Universe and the infrastructure that exists, we can try out different things and experiment as well with this new character.

Marvel Comics spans a multitude of genres and subgenres beyond traditional superheroes and super geniuses, and over the years, Marvel Studios has tried to explore them all. “Guardians Of The Galaxy” opened up the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the “Thor” films have been able to examine gods and fantasy, “Doctor Strange” movies unlocked the mystical realms, and recent and upcoming characters like Moon Knight, Daredevil, and Blade seem poised to finally unveil the street-level supernatural sub-genre element of Marvel.

While Marvel has set up the cosmic side of the universe, it’s only been more recently that the studio has pursued the supernatural and horror side of things with the “Moon Knight” series starring Oscar Isaac and Benedict Cumberbatch’s “Doctor Strange.” But the bent towards the spooky, the strange, and the surreal gets much heavier in the upcoming Halloween special, “Werewolf By Night,” which stars Gael Garcia Bernal.

Fans were greeted with a couple first official looks at the new MCU series coming to Disney+. During the D23 Expo, the first trailers for “Secret Invasion” and the all-new Halloween special, “Werewolf by Night”, were shown much to their delight.

While we’ve seen strides towards building up things like the cosmic side and the multiverse, we’re slowly starting to see Marvel pursue the supernatural/horror side with the recent “Moon Knight” series starring Oscar Isaac and Benedict Cumberbatch’s “Doctor Strange” films (more with the second installment) help ready audiences for slightly less traditional superhero characters.

Disney launched its streaming platform Disney+.Seven Marvel shows have dropped on the platform in just over a year and there have been six movies, including the recent release of Thor: Love and Thunder.The runtime of Phase 4 is more than that of the previous three phases combined and Marvel are about to announce a heap more content.San Diego Comic-Con is here and over the next few days Marvel Studios will be returning to Hall H.Considering this has a release date of November 11, it's incredible there hasn’t been an official unveiling already.This seem a guaranteed heavy hitter for the showcase, with the film set to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in interesting new ways.It is already known that Namor will make an appearance played by Tenoch Huerta, with the character essentially being Marvel’s Aquaman.It is also rumoured that Mutants will show up, building on the X-Men teases seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ms Marvel.This is a project that has long been rumoured and is more concrete than it would seem.According to rumours, this Disney+ Halloween Special has already cast Gael Garcia Bernal as leading character Jack Russell, Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone and the character of Man-Thing.It appears to be a one-off special, though as always it will likely be a springboard for all these characters to appear again later down the line, especially with Blade on the horizon.If this is shown, fans should expect a trailer as it would drop this Halloween.This one has been a long time coming, as Deadpool 2 was released back in 2018.The character’s hard R-rated material might not fit into the MCU like it did the Fox X-Men movies, but that is the whole point of the character.If Ryan Reynold’s does

Marvel Studios is spending a lot of time and resources fleshing out the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen for Disney+, which means fans will have a neverending amount of Marvel shows/specials to keep eyeballs on the streaming service. One of those upcoming specials is an untitled Halloween project that is expected to begin shooting next year, reportedly focusing on an incarnation of the horror character Werewolf By Night.
