Outlander star set for Marvel's Werewolf by Night special on Disney+

Outlander's Laura Donnelly is set to appear in Marvel's Halloween special. The actress, who played Jamie Fraser's sister Jenny Murray in the hit Starz show, is the latest big name to sign up for Werewolf by Night.

The Irish star is much loved by Outlander fans thanks to her lead role in the historical drama from 2014-2017. Deadline reports she hasn't had her specific Marvel character confirmed yet but that speculation is rife she will portray Nine Price, Vampire by Night – the niece of Jack Russell, aka Werewolf by Night from the original comics – and a hybrid of vampire and werewolf.

It is also reported this confirms Coco star Gael Garcia Bernal, who is lined up for the lead, will take on the Russell incarnation of the character, who first popped up in 1972 and is a descendant of original wolfman Grigori Russoff, as opposed to the more recent Jake Gomez.The Halloween special was first announced last summer and production is expected to begin in the next few months.As well as her time in Outlander, Donnelly has also appeared in TV shows Britannia, The Fall, the Nevers and movie Tolkien.The news is not the only Marvel connection to Scotland this week.Yesterday we reported eagle eyed Marvel fans think Scots actor James McAvoy could be set to make his MCU debut in Doctor Strange 2.
