As many Outlander fans know, there is only one series of the hit show left and they are already speculating what is going to happen to Jamie and Claire.
Fans are also wondering what characters will be returning for season eight, however co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts has revealed one key character who won't be returning.Speaking to TVLine, Matthew revealed that Jamie's sister Jenny will not appear in the final season.
Jenny Fraser Murray was originally by Laura Donnelly, however due to other commitments, Laura couldn't return and the role of Jenny was given to Kristin Atherton for the seventh season.In the last series, Jenny's husband Ian passed way and Jamie invited his grieving sister to come stay with him and Claire at their home in North Carolina, however she decided to stay put in Scotland.
There has been so much chat on social media about the differences between the show and Diana Gabaldon’s novels on which the Starz series is based. And in the books, Jenny does make the journey to America but stays in Philadelphia with Fergus, Marsali and their family for a while before traveling to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire, Jamie, Young Ian, Rachel and Germain.Roberts says that since there was so much going on in the books it would be impossible to cover it all before the series finishes for good and the writers chose to focus on the main storylines from the book and particularly the ones that impact Jamie and Claire.He said: “The brief was: Nothing that doesn’t affect Jamie and Claire gets in.
