Growing up in Ireland as an Irish dancer and gymnast, Laura Donnelly learned quickly that performance was her first love. But she had no idea that a childhood athletic background would help her do her own stunts one day for a major HBO production. ‘I was a gymnast right up into my teen years, and that has given me such a solid base for the stunt work,’ Donnelly, 38, who stars in new HBO hit The Nevers, tells the Irish Mail on Sunday. ‘Our head of stunts, thankfully, shows a lot of faith in me and lets me do the vast majority of stunts myself.’ Donnelly plays the character of Amalia True in The Nevers, a supernatural drama which airs here on Sky Atlantic about Victorian women discovering special powers — starring alongside Wexford native Ann
