That all changes with the Aug. 5 release of “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” a smart and funny slasher film from A24 in which a group of frienemies find themselves dropping one by one while trapped in a remote mansion during a storm.

Bodies Bodies Bodies (in limited release August 5, nationwide on August 12). Directed by Halina Reijn and written by Sarah DeLappe, the film is firmly rooted in the vernacular of today’s post-adolescents, 20-somethings who yammer on about podcasts and dilettantish social justice concerns and Tumblr psychobabble. They also, in the film, start murdering one another as tensions and suspicions mount in a sprawling mansion during a hurricane.It’s a fun, classic setup for a film, all spooky hallways and howling wind.

Charli XCX has shared a brand new song, ‘Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)’, ahead of its inclusion in a highly-anticipated horror film.Produced by Charli and The 1975’s George Daniel, the song finds the ‘Beg For You’ artist returning to some of the musical and lyrical themes of her ‘Vroom Vroom’ era, including some direct references: “Cause I’m really hot, dancing in stilettos on the table top/ Rodeo Drive is where I like to shop/ And I can race you there in my Bentley truck (vroom vroom).”‘Hot Girl’ is set to appear on the new A24 slasher Bodies Bodies Bodies. It’s hard to resist a clever, well-made generational-skewering satire and the A24 horror “Bodies Bodies Bodies” really seems to fit the bill. The English-language directorial debut of Dutch filmmaker/actress Halina Reijn (“Instinct,” “Black Book”), “Bodies Bodies Bodies” debuted at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year and appeared to be a massive hit.

“You’re such a dick.” This oft-repeated line from “Bodies Bodies Bodies” could describe almost every character in Halina Reijn’s terrific new horror-comedy. Set in a remote mansion during a coke-fueled hurricane party gone awry, the film follows a group of wealthy friends with lots of baggage over one fateful, deadly night.

Imagine if the seven deadly sins were wealthy gen-z’rs and threw a house party. Now at said party, imagine each of them was high, drunk, and in such a deranged and disconnected state they wouldn’t even know what planet they were operating on. This is what viewers can expect from Halina Reijn’s first English feature film, Bodies Bodies Bodies, which had its world premiere at SXSW 2022. Based on a short story “Cat Person” by Kristen Roupenian and written by Sarah DeLappe, this movie is about when seven people party in a mansion and find out what happens when their game gets out of control. Hence, they stop being polite and start dying. 

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film CriticIn “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” a group of rich kids — five old friends, along with a couple of not-so-significant others — gather for a hurricane party at the pastoral suburban mansion of one of their parents. What’s a hurricane party? A storm has been predicted, and they’re using that as an excuse to barricade themselves inside, so that they can dance to TikTok videos and toot cocaine and play games, including one that describes their more-or-less constant state of being: reading each other, one-upping each other, challenging each other like claw-baring rivals on a reality show.

The premiere of Bodies Bodies Bodies took place in Austin on Monday.The film debuted at the SXSW Conference, and stars of the film including Maria Bakalova, Rachel Sennott and Lee Pace were on hand to see their work.Bakalova walked the red carpet in a red blazer and matching miniskirt that almost reached the middle of her thighs.
