'Broke my heart' The One Show's Alex Jones emotional over Queen's funeral coverage
Alex Jones, 45, hosted a special episode of The One Show today with co-presenter Gethin Jones, 44, entitled “Our Queen Remembered”.The star became emotional when she toured the UK to speak to members of the British public about the late Queen’s death. Today, the public funeral service for Queen Elizabeth II took place in Westminster Abbey at 11am.During the One Show’s broadcast, Alex and Gethin spoke to various people about the impact the Queen had made on their lives.When Alex took to the streets to get reactions from the public, she was particularly moved when she spoke to one elderly man about the monarch’s legacy.“What does it mean to you that we’ve lost our Queen?” she asked gently.“Broke my heart,” the man responded with a long pause, prompting Alex to look a little choked up.“Still, you know what they say,” he continued, “The Queen has died, so long live the King.”The camera then cut back to Alex and Gethin in the BBC studio, where they looked solemn.“I’ll tell you what,” Alex told her co-presenter, “Speaking to that last gentleman nearly broke my heart.
