Kanye West unleashed more than three and a half hours of anti-Semitic rants, untruths about George Floyd and hostile comments toward everyone from Trevor Noah to Diddy during a Sunday appearance on Revolt.TV’s “Drink Champs,” interviewer N.O.R.E. apologized for using his platform to have such views aired during a call to the”Breakfast Club” on Monday morning. N.O.R.E. (real name: Victor Santiago), who challenged West only occasionally during the interview, was on the receiving end of many angry social media posts for his tacit acceptance of many of the comments. “I want to be honest. I support freedom of speech. I support anybody not being censored. But I do not support anybody being hurt,” N.O.R.E told “The Breakfast Club” host  Charlamagne Tha God. “I did not realize that the George Floyd statements made by Kanye on my show were so hurtful. You have to realize that it was the first five minutes of the show – like when he walked in, he told my producer that if we stop filming, he’ll walk out. So I didn’t want a Birdman moment, like when he walked out, so I wanted the man to speak.”

The 1975 frontman Matty Healy has opened up about his feelings on ‘cancel culture’, and his reasons for quitting Twitter after a controversial post back in 2020.Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read cover story to mark the release of their fifth album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, the frontman discussed deactivating his Twitter account back in 2020 following backlash to a Tweet he made after the death of George Floyd.Following Floyd’s death at the hands of policeman in the US and the subsequent public outcry and growth of the Black Lives Matter movement, Healy Tweeted: “If you truly believe that ‘ALL LIVES MATTER’ you need to stop facilitating the end of black ones.”The post also shared the video to The 1975’s single ‘Love It If We Made It’, which features the lyrics “selling melanin and then suffocate the black men / Start with misdemeanours and we’ll make a business out of them“. Many Twitter users then accused Healy of appropriating Black Lives Matter to sell and promote his own music, before he apologised for any upset and deleted his account.Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read, Healy told us: “By that point, my reaction in the room to all that Twitter shit was like, ‘Oh fuck off! You know that I’m not using this as an opportunity to monetise the half-a-pence I get paid for a fucking YouTube play’.

Seattle’s Office of Inspector General released an 81-page review slamming how the police handled the riots of 2020, focusing on its handling of the Capitol Hill Occupied Zone.  The report, released Tuesday by city inspector general Lisa Judge, focuses on 23 days in June, shortly after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, which set off protests and riots across the country.  Seattle’s summer of unrest was highlighted by an eight-block "cop-free" zone known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest or the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone that demonstrators established after police abandoned the East Precinct building in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The inspector general’s office found the occupation revealed a dysfunctional relationship between the city administration, led by then-Mayor Jenny Durkan, and the police department, led by then-Police Chief Carmen Best.

Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper and his attorney general are pushing the GOP-led state legislature to decriminalize possessing small amounts of marijuana following President Biden's recent pardon of thousands who were convicted for the same offense under federal law. "Conviction of simple possession can mar people's records for life and maybe even prevent them from getting a job," Cooper told a Friday task force meeting on racial equity and criminal justice.

Sharon Osbourne says she wants her massive donation to the Black Lives Matter movement back. The former reality star, 69, says she donated $900,000 (£807,000) to the anti-racism movement but now wants her money back after Kanye West called it a ‘scam’ in a recent social media post. Sharon – who is married to rocker Ozzy Osbourne and whose daughter Kelly is expecting her first child – said she doesn’t understand the intricacies around Kanye’s anger but believes him that the movement is a scam.

The city of Philadelphia issued an apology Thursday for the unethical medical experiments performed on mostly Black inmates at its Holmesburg Prison from the 1950s through the 1970s. The move comes after community activists and families of some of those inmates raised the need for a formal apology. It also follows a string of apologies from various U.S.

Ann Dorn, whose husband David Dorn was killed during the 2020 riots that stemmed from George Floyd's death, called out Democrats, including Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., for still supporting the "defund police" movement.  Dorn pointed out the hypocrisy of Bush's support of anti-police rhetoric on "Fox & Friends First" Thursday. "I find it funny that she says ‘defund the police.’ But yet, she spends $400,000-$700,000 on security alone just for herself using police officers to do it.
