Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Paris-based Italian director Giacomo Abbruzzese says making the Berlin Film Festival competition cut with his first feature, “Disco Boy,” which toplines German star Franz Rogowski (“Passages,” ”Undine”), is “certainly a dream come true.” But he also points out that his remarkable debut was a long time coming.  A graduate of several film schools, including France’s prestigious Le Fresnoy, Abbruzzese started developing “Disco Boy” in 2013 following an encounter in a French disco with a classical dancer who had been a soldier.  

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Charades has secured a flurry of deals on Charlotte Regan’s British dramedy “Scrapper,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Starring Harris Dickinson (“Triangle of Sadness”) as a downbeat dad, “Scrapper” has been sold to Spain (Caramel), Australia (Madman), Poland (Against Gravity), Baltics and CIS (Arthouse), Greece (Cinobo) and Airlines (Aardwolf). “Scrapper” has already sold to the U.K. (Pictures House). Charades is currently negotiating deals for Japan, Israel, USA, Scandinavia and South Korea. The film follows Georgie, a dreamy 12-year-old girl who lives happily alone in her London flat, filling it with magic. Suddenly, her estranged father turns up and forces her to confront reality.

Ira Sachs prefers relationships of the doomed variety — tempestuous passions torn asunder, sometimes by external forces like capitalism, which complicated the search for a home through New York’s cutthroat real estate market in “Love Is Strange” and “Little Men.” His latest film — the sexy, frustrating, loose-yet-compact, altogether irresistible three-hander “Passages” — also concerns property contracts and a homeless protagonist. However, this one’s got nobody but himself to blame for that predicament, fluent as he is in the same toxic strain of amour fou that previously perfumed the air in “Keep the Lights On” and especially Sachs’ debut, “The Delta.” As in that film — also pitched at the admirably humble quotidian scale Sachs hasn’t felt the need to exceed in more than a quarter decade — “Passages” follows a bisexual chaos agent so wrapped up in his own narcissism that he can’t see where his self-exploration ends and insensitivity to those around him begins.

Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend, Pete, in between filming.The British father-of-two, who was shooting scenes on a local beach in Cairns, Queensland, also wore a pair of loose trousers as he went barefoot, as well as fake dreadlocks – reminiscent of his Pirates Of The Caribbean co-star Johnny Depp’s iconic character from the movie, Captain Jack Sparrow.Meanwhile, Pete, 28, who puffed on a cigarette, sported a stained pale yellow T-shirt with a print.The former Saturday Night Live star, who, is evidently making a leap into more Hollywood films after departing Saturday Night Live, also wore a pair of stained faded shorts for his role, as he appeared deep in conversation with Orlando.The pair were joined by English actress Naomi Scott, 29, who at one point joined Orlando for a chat as they waited for filming to commence on an old boat.According to Deadline, the film is centred around two hapless pothead beach-bar operators, played by Pete and Franz Rogowski, who get into trouble when they come across stolen money they should’ve left alone.Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, is behind the movie.Last month, Pete’s reality TV star girlfriend Kim, 41, flew to Australia to spend time with him while he had a break from filming.

Pete Davidson cut a laid back figure as he strolled around the set of latest project Wizards!The Saturday Night Live star, 28, has been shooting the movie in Cairns, Australia. Wizards! is directed by Australian writer-director David Michôd and tells the story of two unlucky beach-bar operators (played by Pete and Franz Rogowski) who face a dilemma when they stumble across stolen loot that they really should have just left alone.Main character Pete was pictured on set of the movie – which also stars Naomi Scott and Sean Harris – wearing a long brown dressing gown.The comedian, who is dating Kim Kardashian, also sported a white shirt, black socks, and trainers, while carrying his belongings in a canvas bag as he arrived at work.Pete has been Down Under for a few weeks now, with The Kardashians star Kim recently joining him before jetting off home on her private jet, Kim Air.Seemingly missing her boyfriend too much as the couple are constantly torn apart by work commitments, Kim, 41, touched down in Queensland last week. Of course, flying all that way is hungry work and the reality star is said to have later placed a sizeable order at Italian restaurant Piccolo Cucina, making one waiter a very happy person. Callum McKean claims to have picked up her order and shared a photo of the bill on Instagram, listing exactly what Kim is said to have ordered for herself and her entourage. ‘Took Kim K’s order at work today.

Pete Davidson was spotted out in Cairns, Far North Queensland on Sunday for a solo stroll but appeared to be suffering from a slight wardrobe malfunction.Having jetted to Australia to work on a new film sans girlfriend Kim Kardashian, the former Saturday Night Live star, who recently quit the show after eight years, seemed to have forgotten a final but rather crucial part of dressing.Decked out in a navy hoodie, baseball cap and beige boots, the 28-year-old had forgotten to zip up the flies of his teal trousers before leaving his hotel.However, Pete either didn’t notice or styled it out, flashing a peace sign at waiting photographers as he exited the building.

The management company, which was founded this year by Chris Evans and Adam Kersh, hails the signings as an important step in bolstering their roster of LGBTQ+ talent.Kersh and Sachs have had a long association, having worked together for a decade. Kersh helped spearhead the publicity campaigns for the Sachs’ queer-positive NYC triptych “Keep the Lights On” (2012), “Love Is Strange” (2014), and “Little Men” (2016).
