Celtic fans hijack Queen's applause with 'clap your hands if you hate the royals' banner
Celtic fans hijacked a minute's applause in honour of the Queen by chanting and displaying an offensive banner. The incident occurred prior to their 2-0 defeat away to St Mirren on Sunday afternoon, their first league defeat of the season. St Mirren had chosen to pay respects to Her Majesty prior to the match with a minute's applause, after the Scottish FA had allowed clubs to choose whether or not to hold a pre-match tribute this weekend.A majority of clubs around the United Kingdom have instead paid their respects with a minute's silence immediately followed by the national anthem.READ MORE: Sky Sports to 'turn down crowd noise' after disrespectful chanting about The QueenHowever, St Mirren's tribute was marred by chants of “if you hate the Royal family clap your hands” from the travelling Celtic supporters.Boos were also heard from the away end, although manager Ange Postecoglou was seen applauding throughout.
