Celtic fans hijacked a minute's applause in honour of the Queen by chanting and displaying an offensive banner.The incident occurred prior to their 2-0 defeat away to St Mirren on Sunday afternoon, their first league defeat of the season.

Celtic fans also displayed several offensive banners.Dundee United fans had also sang anti-Royal Family chants prior to their match against Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

Their chants of "Lizzie's in a box" at Ibrox prompted a furious reaction from the home fans.The disruptive behaviour of Celtic fans comes after fans held up a series of offensive banners in midweek during their Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.Banners reading “F*** the crown” and ”Sorry for your loss Michael Fagan” were seen in the crowd at the Polish Army Stadium in Warsaw.Fagan made headlines in 1982 when he scaled the walls of Buckingham Palace and climbed into the Queen's bedroom before being tackled by security.Once the match got underway on Sunday, Celtic fell to their first domestic defeat of the season.
