Quentin Tarantino gave advice on ‘Piranha 3D’ scenes, says director

Piranha 3D director Alexandre Aja has revealed that Quentin Tarantino was pitching him ideas for the movie before he started filming.The cult horror comedy was released in 2010 and is set on the waterside resort Lake Victoria, where an underground tremor releases hundreds of prehistoric piranhas into the lake, causing carnage.The film was helmed by French director Alexandre Aja, and in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aja has said that he met with the Pulp Fiction director a number of times ahead of the making of the movie.“I’ve met with Quentin a few times, and one of the times, we had dinner together in Paris right before I was going to make Piranha 3D,” Aja said. “So I was pitching him all the scenes, and he was pitching me other things that he was thinking about, so I knew how much he loved these types of movies.”Tarantino would go on to be an outspoken fan of another of Aja’s creature features, 2019’s Crawl, a film that sees killer alligators preying upon a family in Florida during a hurricane.“My friend Eli Roth called me to say, ‘Hey, Quentin watched [Crawl] and really loved it’,” Aja continued.

‘Never Let Go’ Review: Halle Berry Hangs On For Dear Life In Gripping Psychological Horror Thriller

French director Alexandre Aja has been known as a member of the horror helming fraternity called the “Splat Pack,” named for the extreme violence in their films. Certainly, many of his pictures, from the 2003 breakthrough Haute Tension and the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes, to his exceptional, and most successful film to date, 2019’s Crawl — in which a family is trapped in the crawl space of their home as alligators surround them during a Category 5 hurricane in Florida (a personal favorite of Quentin Tarantino) — have proved his chops as a genre filmmaker. Now, he steps up to another level with a less gory and more psychological thriller style of film, Never Let Go, in which Halle Berry stars as a mother of twin boys who is traumatically haunted by her own lifelong demons, which she passes on to them in their remote house deep in the woods.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Netflix has set Xavier Gens’ (“Gangs of London”) untitled Paris-set genre movie starring Bérénice Bejo (“The Artist“) and Nassim Lyes (“Overdose”) as its next French film original. Set in the Summer of 2024, the film unfolds in Paris which is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. Sophia, a brilliant scientist, learns from Mika, a young environmental activist, that a large shark is swimming deep in the river. To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine river police commander. Bejo and Lyes star in the film opposite Léa Léviant. The film is produced by Let Me Be and is slated for a launch on Netflix in 2024.
