Streaming on Netflix, Oxygen is a 2020 French-language movie that has gripped viewers. Directed and produced by Alexandre Aja, the sci-fi psychological thriller has been described as “claustrophobic” by viewers who have felt as though they’re right there in the cryogenic chamber with Liz.Written by Christie LeBlan, the Netflix original stars Mélanie Laurent playing a woman (Liz) who awakens and finds herself trapped in an airtight medical cryogenic unit with no memory of how she got there and rapidly falling oxygen levels.

Assisted by an advanced AI, M.I.L.O. (Medical Interface Liaison Officer) Liz must find her way out of the pod, with all the odds stacked against her.Described as “a breathless thriller that doesn’t let up from minute one until the very end”, Oxygen serves up some of cinema’s most intense and claustrophobic 101 minutes.

Starring Mathieu Amalric and Malik Zidi in supporting roles, it’s a movie that will take your breath away (pun very much intended). In 2017, it was initially reported that Anne Hathaway would take on the lead role, however that didn't pan out.

The character of Liz was then supposed to be portrayed by Noomi Rapace (who remains an executive producer on the film), until it finally landed on the brilliant Mélanie Laurent's doorstep, who is said to have given the performance of a lifetime.
